Getting to London City from Kent
Usual route: A2 and A102 or A13 into the Royal Docks. The Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels are tolled at peak times if the driver routes through them.
- London City is the nearest airport for north and west Kent, and the quickest by road from Dartford, Gravesend and Medway.
- It is a small airport and check-in is fast. Most passengers are through security within 20 minutes of the drop-off, so you can leave home later than you would for Heathrow.
- There is a short-stay car park directly outside the terminal for return pickups. No long walk and no shuttle bus.
- Journey times vary more than the free-flow figure suggests because the last few miles are on London roads. Ask the operator for a recommended pickup time, not just a price.
Return journeys
Book the return at the same time and most operators will discount the pair. Give them your inbound flight number: they track it, so a delay moves the pickup rather than costing you waiting time.
