Getting to Gatwick from Kent
Usual route: M20, M26 and M25 (clockwise) to junction 7, then the M23 to junction 9.
- Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, linked by a free shuttle train. Check your airline's terminal before you book; a few carriers use both.
- A £10 drop-off charge applies at both terminal forecourts (up from £7 in January 2026, and among the dearest of the London airports). Most operators add it to the fare rather than asking you for cash.
- Gatwick is the closest of the big airports for most of Kent and the shortest drive from Ashford, Maidstone and the Weald.
- Early-morning departures from Kent avoid most M25 traffic, but the M23 can slow around Crawley from 07:00 on weekdays.
